A) Teletraffic Engineering and Network Optimization Periodical performance evaluation and adaptive resource assignment are proposed as performance-oriented management. Adaptive resource assignment comprises the most suitable strategy for network planning under demand uncertainty (the latter is particularly valid nowadays). First, a heuristic bandwidth controller has been proposed by taking advantage of the inherent capability of connection-oriented networks, like ATM, to rearrange dynamically the already installed resources.
